A San Diego native and graduate of El Capitan High School in Lakeside, California, I have called the Twin Cities home since 2007. I spent much of my adult life in North and South Minneapolis and have worked in three of Minnesota’s largest school districts, serving students in several different roles and school settings.
I am a Chicano educator, a husband, a father, a brother, and a son. My family, my Southern California roots, and the communities I have been fortunate to call home are all important parts of who I am.
I love making and listening to music, spending time outdoors, and learning through and with the natural world. Recently, I have become particularly interested in lichen—which means I am now frequently the person stopping during a walk to examine a rock or the side of a tree.
